Ebook About
Oh, crud, I just realized that I’ve been reincarnated into my favorite manga as the first boss defeated by the heroine at the start of the story! Worst yet, it turns out my fiancé is the strongest of the Four Grand Magi and the very villain who slanders my character as a disgrace on her deathbed! I’m outta here! This is the story of the weakest manga villainess who seeks out the slow life instead of the villain life.

Book The Weakest Manga Villainess Wants Her Freedom! Review :

The reincarnation craze is really getting out of control with more light novels following this premise than anything else. That is certainly what it feels like and while some of these are quite outlandish, most of them focus on some pretty standard tropes, this one being no exception. If you're not familiar with the trope, you should probably look for more popular reincarnation stories, such as The Saga of Tanya the Evil, or I'm a Spider So What. Their popularity is largely due to their quality where as many of the books that follow feel like money grabs. This one in particular is more in the vein of My next Life as a Villainness, all paths lead to doom. So that is the comparison this review will make.As before, if you're not familiar with the book I'm comparing this one too you should probably take a break from this and read it. All Paths lead to Doom is a very good book, very similar to this one, but with one caveat, it is better in almost anyway. First we should look at the title, both book feature the word villain which teases a villain protagonist. This book really only teases the idea and so if you're really looking for a good Villain protagonist story, just quit now. This book isn't that, stick with Tanya the evil, Please don't tell my parents I'm a Super Villain or if you want a free alternative, the webnovel Worm. What you will get here instead is a rushed romance, a harem story and some very weak sauce plot. Like the weakest plot.As far as the romance is concerned, it is very very forced. While there is some charm in the story and the way it plays out, you really lack any serious development of frankly anyone. Even the reincarnation premise feels like a tack on for no reason, since the main doesn't actually remember her past life. When you consider the subjects this book tries to touch, but doesn't actually come anywhere near, it really starts to feel like a shameless money grab. Lets see there is harem, romance, villain protagonist and reincarnation story, none of which really feeling like they get any attention. The harem for instance doesn't work because none of the characters are developed before the romance is added. You barely know the main let alone the supporting and they're already head over heels in love with her.In the end there are just too many options in this crowded genre to recommend this book. Good villain stories are sadly hard to find, good reincarnation are note. Bad reincarnation are not either. This book, sadly falls in the latter.
While this light novel hardly rivals the works of George R. R. Martin in terms of scope, complexity, or characterization, I enjoyed it a great deal and thought it was a cute, light-hearted, and adorable read. Elle is a fun, lovable heroine to follow and while her antics are a little... irritating at first (woman, how many times are you going to FAINT in the first few chapters due to massive revelations?!), she eventually settles down a bit and becomes a charming scamp to follow.I especially appreciate that unlike some shojou heroines, Elle is very pro-active in pushing forward the plot, has a great deal of personal agency and fighting skill, and is magnetic enough that you can understand WHY people are drawn toward her (in both the romantic and platonic sense). She ends up having a really adorable and charming relationship with the male lead (no surprise who he is), who himself is a fun, likable character who suits her well. The plot is zippy and enjoyable, the side characters are sometimes very cute, the story is nicely concluded by the end of this one volume, and the romance is very cute and well-done. Overall, if you like shojou manga but don't have the patience for endless amounts of pining and angst, you'll enjoy this story!
